Along the trail
At Flachau a visit to the Hermann Maier Gallery in the foyer of the tourist office is recommended. Here, the career of skiing legend Hermann Maier, who grew up in Flachau and still lives here, is traced and his most beautiful trophies are exhibited. And if you still feel like a bit of action in the evening, you can get onto the "Lucky Flitzer". This summer toboggan run guarantees a portion of adrenaline and a lot of fun.

From the start of the stage - the Alpengasthof Kogelalm - the Salzburger Almenweg leads in about 45 minutes via hiking trail no. 41 to the summit of the Grießenkareck (1,991m), Flachau's local mountain. Here you should take a short time and enjoy the panorama and the wide view over the SalzburgerLand. Then continue along hiking trail no. 45 to the Starjet 2 mountain station in the direction of the Snow Space Salzburg ski area. On newly created hiking trails you will cross the skiing area. Along the route there are several places to stop for refreshments, such as the Latschenhof, the Jandlalm, the Hofalm or the Waldgasthof at the middle station, which invite you to linger and soak up the sun, especially in good weather. From the Waldgasthof, the trail passes the mid-station of the Star Jet and continues on steep terrain in the forest via the Wastlsteig. Later, the route takes you along the Hermann Maier World Cup course past the finish house of the Ski World Cup races to the World Cup town of Flachau. Those who don't want to walk the 8.7-kilometer descent along the summer ski slopes can take the lift down to the valley: the "Starjet 1+2" chairlifts will also be in operation daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the summer from May 27, 2023 to October 3, 2023.

St. Johann is an important train station on the Salzburg to Pongau line. Both local and long-distance trains stop here, and the station is close to the city centre. From here the Postbus No. 530 goes to Wagrain, from where you can take the cable car "Flying Mozart" to the Alpengasthof Kogelalm.
