Huts

Treat yourself at the end of a hike or take a break before the final stretch: re-energise and enjoy traditional Austrian cuisine at the Flachau huts and mountain inns. Sausage, cheese, bacon, homemade bread and the obligatory doughnuts... alpine snacks in Flachau are quite simply delicious.

Salzburger Gipfelspiel

Discover the seven most beautiful peaks in the Salzburger Sportwelt area. The "Salzburger Gipfelspiel" 7-peaks trail takes you in the footsteps of the "Benevolent Queen and her six knights".

Pick up the "summit box" (Gipfelbox) pack from Flachau tourist office. It includes a log book for your notes, a map, carabiners and a "Gipfelspiel" tag – all you need for a very special hiking experience.
 

Sportweltbus

€ 1.00 with the Summer Card

The public transport serves as a shuttle and return service when hiking. It operates daily from 18 May till 15 September 2024 in the entire region (Salzburg Sportwelt & Obertauern). With the Flachau Summer Card, the Sportweltbus can be used for € 1.00 per route.

Additional info: All buses in the region (to Obertauern, Filzmoos, St. Johann, Großarltal) can be used for EUR 1.00 per person from 1 May to 3 November 2024 with the Flachau guest card.

Ski lifts in summer

A quick and relaxing way to scale the heights is with Flachau's cable cars.

The chairlifts Starjet 1 and 2 take you up to Grießenkar, a beautiful area for hiking. This is the starting point for a whole range of walks from a leisurely high-altitude hike along "Flori's adventure trail" to scaling the 1991 m Grießenkareck. On the terraces of Flachau's mountain inns, you can breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy local culinary delights.

Low season: 19 May to 30 June 2024 and 9 September to 3 October 2024: Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday from 9.00 to 17.00
High season: 1.7. to 8.9.2024: daily from 9.00 to 17.00

Sunrise hiking tour "Gipfelgenuss am Grießenkar"

This hike even gets morning grouches out of bed!

This highlight hike takes all summit strikers high up - to the impressive sunrise. We take shuttles to the Kogelalm, and the subsequent hike with easy steep sections to the summit takes about 50 minutes. We are rewarded with an impressive morning atmosphere and a small sample of a traditional Austrian dish, the "Holzhacker-Muas", which is prepared over an open fire.
