• Hike, play and puzzle on Flori's adventure trail

Hi kids, Flori's adventure trail is just for you!

"Nooooo, not hiking agaaaaain!" chorused our children. At that point, however, they did not know that today, we were headed for Flori's adventure trail in Flachau. This exciting hiking loop has a whole host of things for children to experience and discover, and is guaranteed to engage and entertain even tired little walkers.

We start this sunny Sunday with a hearty breakfast before making our way to the tourist office in Flachau to pick up "Flori's" puzzle booklet. We need the booklet so we can try our hand at all the tricky puzzles to solve along the way. If we find the solution, there will be a prize at the end!

Parking is available right in the centre of Flachau, just a few minutes from the Starjet 1 valley station. The lift takes us up into the mountains and saves us part of the ascent. At the top, a mysterious tunnel leads to the Waldgasthof inn, where Flori's adventure trail starts.

For info:
The Starjet 1 is open daily in summer from 9-17 o'clock. The Starjet 2 takes you even further up, to the beautiful hiking area Griessenkar (at about 1,700 m). With the Flachau Summer Card, one ascent and descent per stay of at least 2 nights is included free of charge!

Let's go!

Our young adventurers can hardly wait – no need to worry about their enthusiasm now. They run from puzzle point to puzzle point and from playpark to playpark, and we have our work cut out to keep up.

From the flying fox, the trail takes us through a magical wood towards the Kneipp facility. We come to a wooden raft that the children can use to travel back and forth across the pond. A perfect activity on hot summer days like today.

Fresh air makes thirsty

At puzzle point number 9, the "cinema of nature", we take a short break for a drink and some chocolate to recharge our batteries before the rest of the trail. This sunny spot is simply beautiful, with amazing views of the Dachstein Massif.

With new energy into the final spurt

Soon, we're heading off again past the water wheel, the old-fashioned swing and the scary spider's web to the climbing wall, where the kids put their skills to the test.

We arrive at our destination and the young detectives compare their puzzle booklets. They all have the correct solution, so we go straight to the Waldgasthof inn so they can collect their surprise prize.

Ice, ice, baby

The inn has a huge playpark with a bouncy castle, a trampoline, a petting zoo and comfy deckchairs to relax on.

First, though, it's definitely time for lunch. We tuck into a hearty meal on the lovely sun terrace. And of course, as a reward for everyone's hard work, there's a huuuuuge ice cream sundae for afters.

The day has been a great success, everyone is pleasantly full – and after just a short break, the children are up and about again at full speed. As we travel back down on the Starjet 1, my daughter say with an enormous smile: "Mummy, hiking isn't half as bad as we thought!"

Mission accomplished! :)
