5 things you absolutely must experience at FUNSPACE Flachau

FUNSPACE Flachau is open today, and I can already say this: if you’re visiting Flachau with the family this summer, you really must make a note of this new adventure park. Not because you can just ‘pop in for a quick look’, but because a simple afternoon here can very quickly turn into a proper family day out.

What I particularly like is that FUNSPACE Flachau isn’t just for a specific age group. Young children can splash about, marvel at things and give everything a go. Older siblings can look for their next challenge. Parents, grandmums and grandads cheer them on, watch or simply join in themselves. That’s exactly why the new attraction in Flachau feels so right: straightforward, outdoors, active and an experience for all generations.

1. Cool off at the water playground

When the sun is shining and the children are drawn to the water after just a short while, the water playground is the perfect first stop. Here, they can pump, splash, paddle and try out all sorts of things. Splash features, spray arches, ground-level fountains and a variety of water games provide a refreshing break and plenty to keep them occupied.

This area is ideal for young children in particular. They can move about freely, experiment with water and keep discovering new things. The crystal washing station is a particular highlight. There, little treasure hunters can pick up their own bag of sand and stones for around €5, and then it’s time to wash, sift and discover. With every handful, the excitement builds: what could be hidden in the sand? A glittering stone, a little find, a personal treasure? At the end, the children not only have the fun of playing in the water, but also a lovely souvenir to take home with them.

2. Become an Alpine Ninja

After some water fun, it’s time to get a bit more active. The Ninja Course calls for balance, agility, strength and a good dose of courage. A variety of obstacles are waiting to be conquered – ideally without touching the ground.

Important to know: The Ninja Course is primarily intended for teenagers and adults. This isn’t just a playground for little children, but a real challenge. The ‘Sky Ladder’ in particular is a tough one: it’s one of the biggest challenges on the course and requires strength, core stability and stamina. Anyone who wants to make their way up here will quickly realise that Alpine Ninja doesn’t just sound good – it feels just as good too.

What I particularly like about this station is that the whole family can still be involved. Some take on the challenge, whilst others cheer them on, laugh along and share in the excitement right up until the buzzer sounds.

3. Send the marbles on their way

For me, the marble runs are one of those attractions where absolutely everyone gets involved. Nine varied stations invite you to set the marbles rolling, collect points and have a bit of friendly competition.

Whether it’s the marble tower, channelled tracks with sound effects or the marble wave track – here you need a feel for it, a bit of skill and sometimes the right tactics too. Younger children watch with excitement to see which way their ball goes, older children try out the stations several times in a row, and adults are often just as keen to get stuck in.

You can buy a marble for the marble run for €2 directly from the vending machine. And the best bit is: after you’ve finished playing, you can take it home with you. That way, you’ll not only remember your shared experience at FUNSPACE Flachau, but also have a little memento of the day.

4. Gliding down the slope on the Fly-Line

The Fly-Line is one of the highlights at FUNSPACE Flachau. Seated in disc-shaped seats, you glide gently down the slope and get to see the adventure park from a completely different perspective.

During the ride, you’ll glide leisurely across the grounds – and towards the end, a special eye-catcher awaits: the large wooden eagle. It’s the perfect match for the Fly-Line, because as you glide along, you feel a bit as though you’re soaring over the slope yourself.

The great thing about the Fly-Line is that it feels special without being too wild. It’s a little adventure with a view, where you need a bit of courage but still feel confident as you set off.

Get on, glide off, enjoy the view – and once you’re at the bottom, you’ll usually find yourself saying straight away: “One more time!” For me, the Fly-Line is just the right mix of calm, exciting and special.

5. Whizzing down the tubing run through the steep bend

To finish off, let’s pick up the pace once more. On the tubing run, you hurtle downhill in large tyres, and the built-in steep bend gives you just the right amount of butterflies in your stomach.

This is the spot for anyone who fancies a bit of action. Children cheer, teenagers are keen for another go, and adults realise pretty quickly that you’re never too old for a little adrenaline rush like this.

For me, the tubing run is a really brilliant finale to a visit to FUNSPACE Flachau. Although ‘finale’ probably isn’t quite the right word – because more often than not, you end up heading back to your favourite attraction afterwards.

My insider tips for your visit

It’s best to pack a change of clothes for young children, or at least a towel. A visit to the water playground rarely ends with ‘just a quick look’ – and that’s exactly what makes it so great.

If you’re visiting on a warm summer’s day, it’s best to set off a bit earlier. That way, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the children will still have plenty of energy left for the water playground, marble tracks, ninja course, Fly-Line and tubing slide.

And my most important tip: allow plenty of time. The adventure park isn’t a place to rush through. It’s a place to try things out, do them again, watch and have a laugh together.

Conclusion: A new attraction for families and people of all ages

FUNSPACE Flachau brings a breath of fresh air to summer in Flachau. A water playground, ninja course, marble tracks, Fly-Line, tubing run and a few other attractions make this new adventure park a destination that appeals particularly to families with children – but certainly not just them.

There’s something for every generation here: the little ones splashing about, the older ones tackling the challenges, and the adults joining in or cheering them on. This is exactly what a successful family day out in Flachau feels like: outdoors, active, hassle-free and full of little moments you’ll still be talking about later.
