The peak of fun – Summer 2017: Easy hiking in Flachau.

The mountains are just as imposing as the sea: whoever hasn't grown up there has the greatest respect for them. However the mountains are an incomparable natural space, which offers not only tranquillity and relaxation but also action, excitement and fun. Far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life the body, spirit and soul can take a deep breath, relax and there’s still plenty of fun there too. Flachau offers the best conditions for active summer holidays in the mountains both for beginners as well as passionate mountaineers and the whole family too. The valley is wide, the summits offer great views, the lifts are comfortable and there is lots of choice too. Most of the hiking paths are easy to intermediate, but all of them offer exceptional views of the Salzburger mountains. Traditional mountain huts along the well-signposted and safe paths will entice you to stop, have a rest and relax. But that's not all, as the mountains around Flachau are also the ideal terrain for adventurous bike rides, fun sports, adventures and activity programmes.

Certainly a great mountain holiday for families and newcomers to hiking. If you don't fancy long flights and fighting for a sun-lounger, then Flachau and its stunning mountains with idyllically located and picturesque mountain huts, lush green meadows and clear mountain streams are not only a real contrast to a holiday on the beach but promise an exceptional holiday too. Here you can imagine being at the "peak of fun": instead of being enclosed by the mountains, a wide, sweeping valley is a character of the countryside. Instead of extreme hikes for experts there is great scope for walking for young and old alike. Flachau's local mountains are approximately 2,000m high and guarantee amazing views. In spite of this they are still easy to conquer even with the whole family, either on your own, under your own steam or with a group of similarly-minded people and accompanied by a professional guide. During the summer months there are daily guided hikes, either to the peaks, simple mountain huts, or those offering local culinary delights. The Flachau lift company makes it easy for you to reach the summit and experience the heart of the Grießenkar hiking area. Whether you’re hiking on Flori's discovery trail or heading for the summit, Flachau is ideal for all those who love nature, want to breathe the fresh mountain air or have an adventure.
