Long MTB ride to the Tauernkarleiten hut and the Gnadenalmen. The tour is aimed for ambitious mountain bikers and is characterised by gravel paths, steep alpine paths and selective trail sections.
We start in the centre of Flachau and follow the asphalt road as a warm-up to Berggasthof Sattelbauer. From there we take a gravel path back down into the valley, where we follow a beautiful forest path along the Zauchbach on a moderate incline. Arriving in the Ski World Cup town of Zauchensee, we continue on asphalt to Oberzauchensee and further on a steep trail (you may have to push the bike here) to the panoramic Stubhöhe, the highest point of the tour. From now on it's downhill, past the Tauernkarleiten Alm (stop for refreshments) and the Gnadenalmen (stop for refreshments), before another cool, grouped trail leads us via the Maierl Alm (stop for refreshments) to the Taurachradweg. Along the Taurach, the route now leads leisurely back home. Strong mountainbikers can return to Flachau via the Feuersang mountain. Alternatively, the well-signposted Ennsradweg is also available as a transfer route.

More informations

The tour starts at the tourist office in Flachau. Following the main road towards the end of the valley, we turn left after about 200 meters, past the church and up to the Sattelbauer. At the top we cross the barrier and drive downhill to Zauchenseestraße. At the bottom, we cross the road and take the cycle path, which leads us to Zachensee on gravel terrain. Through the lift garage, we drive up a steep street. After a short uphill trail we have already arrived at the Stubhöhe, where it goes downhill on trails to the Gnadenalm. Passing the Mayerlalm, we cycle along the Taurach along the cycle path before we climb up to the Sattelbauer again. After a few trails we reach our destination Flachau.
