Hike from the village of Flachau to Flachau's local mountain "Grießenkareck" with a wonderful panoramic view incl. summit experience. The Flachau cable cars take you comfortably and easily to lofty heights. The Starjet 1 and 2 chairlifts take you to the beautiful Grießenkar hiking area.
The actual hike begins at the Starjet 2 mountain station. Now follows the ascent across a beautiful alpine pasture area with wonderful flora and fauna to the foot of the summit - this path to the summit runs on rocky ground and requires surefootedness and good shoes.

From the centre of Flachau head towards the Starjet 1 valley station (summer lift operation), continue to the Pfeiffei Alm, cross the meadow there and continue to hiking trail no. 42 - from here it is a fairly steep climb to the Starjet middle station. A little above the Starjet 1 mountain station, the trail continues moderately steeply along the newly created hiking trail no. 41 to the Grießenkaralmen. Above the Latschenhof mountain inn, turn into hiking trail no. 41, continue to the war memorial crosses and along the grade to the Grießenkareck (1991 m). Then turn left at the fork to trail no. 45A - after a few minutes' walk there is another fork, turn left here - continue to the Starjet 2 mountain station. Then take the summer lift back to the valley in Flachau.

Alternative: Take the summer lift (Starjet 1 and 2) uphill to the Latschenhof mountain inn or just the first section (Starjet 1) to the middle station.

Planning & preparation: Precise tour planning is recommended before every mountain tour. Information from local experts such as mountain guides or hut keepers as well as hiking maps will help you.

Mountain rescue number: The telephone number 140 is the emergency number for alpine accidents in Austria.

The basic equipment of a hiker includes:

o sturdy, high shoes with a grippy sole

o suitable mountain clothing

o enough to drink

o snacks for in-between

o sunglasses, sunscreen or rain protection if necessary

o mobile phone

o walking sticks

o First aid kit

Parking possibilities are available at the center of Flachau (BBF-Center & Minigolf).
