Day 1: Arrival in Flachau - overnight stay in Flachauwinkl.

Day 2: Ascent to Ahornkarsattel - continue to Saukarkopf and Grießenkareck - descent to Wagrain - overnight stay.

Day 3: From Wagrain to the Grafenberg - on to the Auhofalm via Gabel / Kitzstein to the Kleinarler Hütte - overnight stay.

Day 4: From Kleinarler Hütte via Penkkopf to Unterwandalm - on to Maurachalm - via Gernkogel to St. Johann-Alpendorf - overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Flachau - return journey.

Day 1: Arrival in Flachau, 927m. Overnight stay in Flachauwinkl.

Day 2: Walk up from Flachauwinkl across the Frauenalm to the Ahornkarsattel (1850m), along to the Saukarkopf (2014m) and to the Grießenkareck (1991m) - walk down to Wagrain (838m). Part of the Salzburger Almenweg. Overnight stay: Wagrain, 838m. Walking time approx. 5 hours, 1100m ascent and 1250m descent.

Day 3: From Wagrain up to the Grafenberg (1717m), along to the Auhofalm across the Gabel/Kitzstein (1983m) to the Kleinarler Hütte (1756m) - part of the Salzburger Almenweg. Overnight stay at the Kleinarler Hütte (1756m). Please bring a sleeping bag! Walking time approx. 4- 5 hours, 1150m ascent and 250m descent.

Day 4: From the Kleinarler Hütte across the Penkkopf (2011m) to the Unterwandlalm (1565m) along the Maurachalm and across the Gernkogel (1787m) to St.Johann-Alpendorf. Part of the Salzburger Almenweg. Overnigth stay in St. Johann-Alpendorf, 750m. Walking time approx. 5- 6 hours, 1400m ascent and 1400m descent.

Day 5: Transfer to Flachau - return journey.

Planning & preparation: Precise tour planning is recommended before every mountain tour. Information from local experts such as mountain guides or hut keepers as well as hiking maps will help you.

Mountain rescue number: The telephone number 140 is the emergency number for alpine accidents in Austria.

The basic equipment of a hiker includes:

o sturdy, high shoes with a grippy sole

o suitable mountain clothing

o enough to drink

o snacks for in-between

o sunglasses, sunscreen or rain protection if necessary

o mobile phone

o walking sticks

o First aid kit
