This hiking tour takes you through light forests, gentle alpine pastures and along the ridge.
This section of the Salzburg Almenweg leads from the centre of Flachau to the beautifully situated Sattelbauer mountain inn and on to the farmed Lackenalmen pastures. Here it is worth taking a break for a few minutes and enjoying the untouched nature in peace and quiet. The route now follows the ridge southwards along a high-level path. You reach the stage destination - Zauchensee - with a magnificent panoramic view.

More informations

From Flachau the trail leads over the motorway, from there following the "Weg der guten Wünsche" (path of good wishes) to the Wechselmaisweg. Crossing this, the trail leads moderately steeply to the "Neuer Sattelweg" junction and continues uphill through the forest. The last section of the trail goes along the access road to the Sattelbauer mountain inn. From there, there is a beautiful footpath through the forest to the Lackenalmen, which joins a goods path about 800 m before the alpine pastures. After the alpine pasture, the trail continues slightly uphill for a short distance until you reach a small pond. Now the footpath branches off to the left and goes steeply uphill until it turns into a high trail. At the fork in the path at the Lackenkogel junction, we have earned a short rest after climbing 1,050 metres in altitude. On the further course of the high trail to the south we can now enjoy the mountain panorama with all its beauty. VARIANT: Shortly before the ascent to Roßkopf, at the chairlift station, a path branches off to the left, on which you reach the hiker's paradise of Zauchensee after a short descent.Past the Höchkessel sinkhole, the trail climbs again briefly to a saddle, between the Arche and Tagweideck, from which we descend into the extensive sinkhole of the Seekarkessel. From the Gamskogelhütte we can now descend to Zauchensee on the 6-seater SB Gamskogel I or continue along the Almenweg via the access road to the Oberzauchenseealm.

On the last part of the way to the summit Lackenkogel (side trip) step security is necessary.
