Forecast

We are still under the influence of strong high pressure. Furthermore, very dry air masses will arrive from the east above 900 m to 1100 m. However underneath, the fog will persist, and the weak December sun will have difficulty in breaking through! Particularly in the morning, we will therefore have to deal with dense cloud which should partially clear in the afternoon.

Flachau's famous son - the ski legend Hermann Maier
Flachau's famous son - the ski legend Hermann Maier likes to ski on the slopes of Flachau Flachau - the place where the World champion and Olympic champion Hermann Maier lives.
Hermann Maier: an exceptional sports talent - a charismatic personality
Hermann Maier was born on 07.12.1972. Hermann's passion for skiing was already in his blood at birth as his parents owned their own ski school here in Flachau. His took part in his first World Cup race on 10.02.1996 and obtained his first World Cup victory in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on 23.02.1997. 53 further World Cup victories were to follow, as well as 2 Olympic medals and 3 World Championship titles before he announced his retirement from racing on 13.10.2009.

Thanks to his great success but also thanks to his relaxed, friendly manner Hermann Maier still counts as one of Austria's most famous personalities.

The foundations for Herminator's success were in his home village Flachau. Whether it was ski training on the slopes of Flachau in winter or building up his fitness during the summer months, the mountains of Flachau always gave him the best pre-requisites.
